Rules



1. We always address our instructors as Sir or Ma'am as a sign of respect. Also address students with rank of Black / Red as Mr. or Ms.

2. Upon entering the school, we bow at the entrance of the training area. We bow also before we leave at the end of class. Bowing before entering symbolizes humility and respect to the training area that will become a vital link in your development.

3. Students arriving late should ask for permission to enter class, (e.g. "Permission to enter class, Sir") it is disrespectful to your instructor as well as your fellow students to always arrive late "Be on time". Also notify the instructor if you must leave the class early for the day.

4. All students will treat one another with the up most respect and courtesy.

5. Higher ranked students are expected to be courteous and understanding, and are also expected to help fellow students whenever possible and lead by example.

6. Any substitute and or guest instructor will be treated as you would your instructor.

7. The use of profanity, obscene gestures or actions and unnecessary roughness toward a fellow student is prohibited.

8. Loud conversation (lobby area and training floor), chewing gum, laughing and giggling have no place in the karate school.

9. Personal hygiene is your responsibility(clean uniforms, trimmed nails etc.).

10. You should always wear your full and clean uniform to class:

White uniforms for students of all belt ranks.

Red uniforms for students of Green Belt or higher.

Blue uniforms for students of Purple Belt and higher.

Black uniforms for Black Belts or Black Belt club members.

Please, no mixing of different color top (traditional) and pants except for staff members.


Belts and uniforms will not be worn outside of class, they must be treated with respect and honor, folded and tied when not in use

11. Shoes should be removed before entering the training area and placed in designated areas. No overnight storage is allowed.

12. For safety, students should not wear rings, watches, bracelets, chains or earrings while in class.

13. Students progress cards must be pulled prior to lining up for class

14. There is no striking of the punching bag without permission or supervision by the instructor.

15. Please keep all food and drink out of the training area.

16. Uniforms and equipment should be purchased through the school.

Sparring Etiquette:

1. The instructor allows no sparring without supervision at any time.

2. NO sparring is allowed at White Belt level.

3. NO head attack is allowed at Yellow Belt level.

4. NO sparring is allowed without wearing the proper protective equipment.

5. Hands, feet, head sparring gear and mouth guard are mandatory at Yellow Belt. Groin protection is also required for male students.

6. Chest protection is mandatory at Orange Belt level for students under the age of 18.

7. Always bow to your partner before and after sparring, this shows respect and good sportsmanship.

8. In the event of an accident, notify your instructor immediately.

9. Never strike to injure your partner; good control must be exercised.

10. No full contact is allowed at anytime.

11. It is impolite to ask your instructor if he or she will spar with you.

12. Never leave a sparring match because you are angry or upset. Finish first and then speak with your instructor after class in private.

13. Sparring is a drill to develop timing. It is not a competitive arena.
